Among our proudest achievements rank our aerodynamic truck designs.  Almost 30 years ago, we patented a Class 8 semi-truck design that is still 30 years ahead of the industry.  Take a look at our economy gains.  We took a large truck with the coefficient of drag equal to a parachute (1.8 cd), which is still typical today, and quartered it with a drag coefficient of .4cd.  20years ago, by the way,  when it was tested, our drag coefficient matched that of the sleekest sports cars.  To see the effect of this on a graph and other information, refer to our "News" page.

With our new storage system for ground effect vehicles such as pickup trucks ALATE "Aero-Lockers" tm  that enhances your vehicles aerodynamics by smoothing the airflow as it passes over the bed of your truck, we have seen highway mileage increases of almost 3 miles per gallon.  On a typical 90's era F-150 with the 300c.i.d. inline 6, our mileage went from 12 mpg to 15 mpg when used on the freeway and with the tailgate left at home.  After all, how often do you really need your tailgate?

Our testing is contrary to a lot of so called "experts".  NOBODY has tested the aerodynamic characteristics of our product but us.

We have seen a popular TV show demonstrate how leaving your tailgate off does nothing to increase your mileage.  We agree with that investigation.  However, we contend that our aerodynamic aid takes advantage of the "Kamm Effect" of aerodynamics and conclude that is the reason we have seen such an increase.  To verify this, we spent countless hours testing our product to verify the substantial increase in mileage that we have experienced.  Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Chrysler, Toyota and Nissan all pay third parties to test their products.  Do you think they are going to arrive with conclusions that are not approved of in advance?  Do you think that companies that advertise are going to do so on programs that do not tow the company line?  The manufacturers have already launched a dis- information campaign to convince you that the ONLY aerodynamic aid for pick up trucks is.....the TONNUE COVER!  Funny, cant you order those thru the dealer? 

You CANNOT order the Alate "Aero-Lockers"tm thru the dealer because we are the only manufacturer and distributor of this product.  So basically where experts claim they would have to spend 5 billion dollars for a 4 percent gain, we say YOU only have to spend about $1200.00 for a potentially,  substantially greater gain.  These are now available for all pick-up trucks, both long and short beds and we are taking orders.

By the way, when I wind tunnel tested my semi truck design, the aerodynamics expert at the university bet me that my semi truck would not do better than 1.0cd.  He lost.

Anyway, we are all dog fans at Alate.  Hence, our base model is known as the "Retriever"  after one of our favorite dogs, well known for being hardworking just like our storage system.  Our soon to be released up-level version is known as the "Siberian Husky" after another of our favorite dogs,  known for its long running and hardworking attributes.  By the way, our dogs like our storage system also....so will you.

Company Profile

We are located in Michigan with facilities in Almont.  Our Almont facility is used primarily for research and development of both ideas and process's allowing us the flexibility for production work, assembly work and customer installation work.  We have design, welding, stamping and complete automotive sheet metal fabrication capabilities and use local shippers for cross country delivery of our finished product.
